Meredith Milton first love is print making. She began her formal art education at Bealart in London, Ont. and then earned an arts degree from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University in Halifax.
She grew up with an artistic parent (Ron Milton, also a printmaker), who influenced and nurtured her talent from a very young age.
Meredith has been exhibiting her work since 2010, including shows at the Westland Gallery in 2018 in the Printmakers Show and the Christmas Show.
Animals are a common theme in her work, both wild and domestic. "I love the history of agriculture. I am fascinated by how our ancestors chose to befriend and domesticate animals for food, transportation, and materials. Not only has this influenced man's history but also the evolution of different breeds. I find species that remain in the wild fascinating, too. I am always analyzing what characteristics set them apart from the tamed."

Animal Exchange Rate Cards Series
Canadian wildlife comes in a vast array of sizes, shapes, and colours. We often think of the iconic beaver, moose, polar bear, and wolf but what about the clown-like puffin, the Christmas reindeer, and the delicious wild turkey? This series takes Canadian/North American animals, both common and out of the box, and pairs each with a globally similar counterpart. What about a peacock for a turkey or a flamingo for a goose? The focus is on the aesthetics of the animals, and the climate or the environment has been set aside. The images are based on a playing card format created in drypoint, hand-printed, and then watercoloured in small varied editions of three or four. The chosen shape and dimension ratios mimic children's games, tarot, and trading cards. Cards are so versatile and have provided entertainment around the world for centuries. As a custom framer, Meredith has thoughtfully wired each piece so the Canadian animal may be displayed facing upward or downward depending on the client's preference.
