Sunday Movement Classes at Westland Gallery
Classes run Sunday mornings 9:30-10:30 July 3rd, 10th, 17th and 31st, August 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th. Registration required.
Join us for a relaxing and rejuvenating Sunday morning movement practice at Westland Gallery, surrounded by beautiful local art. Yoga based mobility, strength and stretch. Whether you are a beginner or have experience with yoga based movement this class will be accessible to all. Registration is required and space is limited to 8 participants to allow for distancing.
Classes will be led by Michaela Devine Altenburg. Michaela has been teaching yoga based movement in London since 2014.
Join us to build a restorative and practical movement practice that you can use throughout your week.

Pop Up workshops at Westland Gallery
August 25th 6:30-8:30 with Meredith Jones - Walnut Ink and natural dyes
Natural dyes, inks and paints can be created from the plants growing all around us. Their subtle beauty is informed by the specific time and environment the plant was grown in. This workshop will discuss the rich history of creating colour through plants. How to prepare and use plants to created archival and impermeant works of art. Participants will be working with goldenrod, black walnuts, and other local seasonal plants.
September 17th 10am-12 - Plein Air Painting with Denise Antaya
Award winning landscape painter Denise Antaya will be running a plein air painting workshop in the morning of August 20th. In this workshop you will be venturing outside to paint on location in wortleyt village. This class is open to all levels although oil painting experience would be beneficial. If you attended Denise's underpainting workshop this is an opportunity to add to the skills acquired in that workshop. A rain date will be added depending on weather.

RESTORATIVE YOGA WITH RACHEL MCGARRY
Hold the Date - Friday September 30th 7-9pm Westland Gallery will be hosting an evening with Rachel McGarry. Join us for a restorative Yoga experience.
Fall Workshops at Westland Gallery
Each workshop takes place on a Thursday evening, at Westland Gallery, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. It will include a short presentation from the artist and approximately an hour of hands-on time. You will not leave the workshop with a finished piece but instead be introduced to the medium, style or technique being featured. With approximately 10 students per class, you will get lots of interaction from the artist instructor.

September 8th - Anna Koot (Encaustic Painting) SOLD OUT
This workshop will introduce you to the unique qualities of Encaustic Painting. Encaustic painting is the process of painting with beeswax, demar resin and pigments. Join Anna for a two hours of information and hands on play with this versatile medium.
September 15th - Christopher Cape (Plein Air Painting)
Drawing from Life: The foundations of Painting En Plein Air
The visual immensity and complexity of the world can be overwhelming when it comes to painting En Plein Air. Being able to visually represent the landscape in front of you, whether a sweeping meadow below a mountain range or tiny alleyway behind your house, comes down to making decisions. Added to this these decisions are made under the ever changing light. This workshop will cover the first three foundational decisions we make when starting any visual piece and how these decisions shape our artistic voice.
September 22nd - Susan Garrington (watercolour)
Join us for a Watercolour Workshop with Susan Garrington. Susan will be demonstrating various techniques to organize information from sketches into completed paintings.
September 29th - Michaela Devine Altenburg (Photo transfers and mixed media)
Join us at the gallery for this workshop exploring photography transfers onto watercolour paper and other substrates, As well as mixed media applications for enhancing your photo transfers. Photo transfers are a wonderful way of incorporate your original images or source material into mixed media pieces.
October 6th - Mandy Forbes (Drawing with thread, painting on textiles and thread drawing)
In this fun and relaxed workshop participants will be exploring various embroidery, appliqué and fabric painting techniques to create a one-of-a-kind work of art. Participants will practice “drawing” with thread and also learn some image transfer techniques. Mandy will also show examples of her work and offer tips and tricks for creating textile art. This workshop is suitable for people of all ages and experience levels.
October 13th - Paul Abeleira (Oil Pastels)
Join us for this engaging workshop in Oil pastels.
Paul Abeleira has been a professional artist for over twenty years. Through solo and group exhibitions in the commercial gallery and print markets, Paul’s work has fallen into the hands of collectors all over North America. While known mainly for his kitchen themed still life oil paintings, Paul is equally adept at plein air landscapes, figures and portraits.
October 20th - Myrna Pronchuk (Painting with Objects - 3D Collage)
In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the Dada art movement as they try their hand at creating a 3-dimensional abstract painting using found objects. All skill levels are welcome.
October 27th - Agneta Dolman (porcelain pottery)
Explore the transparent beauty of porcelain clay in this very basic 2 hour hand building course .
Agneta will demonstrate slab building, shaping with molds and discuss the many possibilities of working in this ancient, challenging medium. You will be able to try your hand at rolling and shaping but will not be able to bring any finished products home. Hopefully you will feel well informed and inspired to continue on your own. As a Centre for Clay Arts, London offers many opportunities to learn more and have your work finished without the need to buy your own kiln.
