Elle marries abstraction and realism. Her works are immediately recognizable as flowers but are built up with layers of dynamic brushwork and gestural mark-making. Her expressive style allows her to capture both her subject and the emotions that it evokes. Much of the work on display is a part of Elle’s newest series, also the title of the exhibition, “Heaven on Earth”. Of this collection, Elle says" ‘Open your heart, be brave, be courageous, be bold; marry fragility with strength; femininity with masculinity, light with darkness, transformation with transparency and marry Heaven with Earth.’ Elle received a Bachelor of Science with a minor in Fine Arts from the University of Prince Edward Island with honours in 1997. Currently a full-time painter, Elle resides with her family in Oakville, Canada.
“Heaven on Earth” runs until May 19th. An opening reception will be held Friday April 27th at 7 pm. An artist talk will be held on May 9th at 7 pm.
