Vast amounts of fragmentation and brokenness are encountered by us daily. Langbroek assembles objects, materials colours and images, using aesthetic as well as cultural implications that can tell our story. Our story of suffering and joy brokenness and healing, ugliness and beauty.
Reconciled in an aesthetic of wholeness. The nature of his art is never moralistic or preachy, he shies away from the didactic, rather he uses poetic, nuanced often narrative based images that reflect a normative universality. He has been in numerous solo and group exhibitions and has won awards for his work including 1st place for Reformed Worship Magazine Cover, 1st place in the 2003 Society of Canadian Artists Juried Exhibition, Jurors Award SCA. for “Art on the Edge” at JBAird Gallery and more.
